SPINE MODELS

Anterior cervical spine (disectomy and arthrodesis)

  • Duration of the craniotomy: 40 min
  • Location: Main auditorium
  • Cost: $2,500 MXN per participant
REGÍSTRATE

Anterior cervical surgery is one of the most commonly performed spinal surgeries for degenerative disease. The anterior cervical approach involves dissection of the anterior neck with an understanding of the anatomy of muscles and neurovascular structures (internal and external carotid arteries, jugular vein, vagus nerve, cervical ansa, recurrent laryngeal nerve, etc.), as well as the trachea, esophagus, etc., to reach the anterior cervical spine. This is followed by anatomical knowledge of the disc, spinal cord, and nerve roots.
Participants will have the opportunity to practice this approach, including the exact site for the incision, proper dissection of the aforementioned structures, decompression of the spinal cord, preparation for arthrodesis, and the arthrodesis itself, with the respective instrumentation and virtual fluoroscopy (without radiation use).
