Associate Professor of Neurosurgery and Biomedical Informatics at the State University of New York (SUNY) in Buffalo, where he joined the department in 2016. He completed his residency training in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He specializes in cerebrovascular and skull base neurosurgery, initially training under Dr. Michael Lawton for open surgical procedures, and later completing a fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery with UB Neurosurgery. He has extensive experience in the treatment of aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, cavernous malformations, arteriovenous fistulas, strokes, carotid stenosis, cerebral bypass, and other vascular diseases, using both open and endovascular approaches to provide comprehensive patient care.
Dr. Davies graduated from Stanford University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with concentrations in Biological Sciences. His active research interests focus on the use of bioinformatics tools to advance personalized medicine. He is working on the development of bioinformatics tools to improve the quantity and quality of data available for medical research and to lower the barriers for all clinicians to contribute to medical knowledge. Additionally, he is applying more advanced machine learning and data analysis methods to better understand the insights contained in these rich data resources. He is currently the principal investigator of several national trials, including the EMBOLIZE trial, which studies the efficacy of middle cerebral artery embolization for the treatment of chronic subdural hematomas.

LUIS FERNANDO GONZÁLEZ MD

Cerebrovascular Neurosurgeon Specializing in Open and Endovascular Techniques. He is a Professor of Neurosurgery in the Department of Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. González earned his medical degree from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia, where he also completed his neurosurgery residency. CLEMENT HAMANI MD

Dr. Clement Hamani earned his medical degree from the Escola Paulista de Medicina in São Paulo in 1993 and then obtained his PhD in Neurosciences from the same institution. He completed a fellowship in Research and Clinical Functional Neurosurgery at the Division of Neurosurgery at Toronto Western Hospital. In 2008, he joined the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health as a Research Associate and became an Assistant Professor in the Division of Neurosurgery at the University of Toronto. In 2013, he received the Ohye Award, granted by the World Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery (WSSFN), for promoting clinical research in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery. Dr. Hamani is currently a Full Professor in Neurosurgery/Surgery and Co-Director of the Neurosurgery Research Council at the University of Toronto. Yoshua Esquenazi, M.D., is a neurosurgeon with specialized training in epilepsy surgery and surgical neuro-oncology. His practice focuses on brain and spinal tumors. Dr. Sun specializes in surgical treatments for patients with epilepsy, brain and pituitary tumors, cerebrovascular anomalies such as aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations, as well as ischemic strokes. He also practices general neurosurgery and performs spine surgeries.
Moreover, Dr. Sun conducts research in basic sciences and leads the Epilepsy and Brain Connectivity Laboratory. He is the principal investigator for a Developmental Ideas Award from the U.S. Department of Defense’s Epilepsy Research Program, focused on identifying imaging biomarkers for the development of post-traumatic epilepsy. His research interests include brain-computer interface, neuroimaging, the functional and structural connectome of the brain, and the pathophysiology of epilepsy.
Dr. Sun has co-authored over 80 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and seven book chapters.

DR. ROCCO ARMONDA

Rocco A. Armonda, MD, is director of Neuroendovascular Surgery for MedStar Washington Hospital Center and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, surgical co-director for the Neuro Intensive Care Unit at MedStar Washington, and associate professor and director of Neurosurgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS).
Dr. Armonda graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1986 and from USUHS in 1990, with academic honors. His surgical internship and neurosurgery residency were completed at Walter Reed Army MEDCEN. He was selected for a fellowship in Cerebrovascular Surgery and Interventional Neuroradiology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadephia from 1997-99. He recently joined MedStar Health after a 31-year military career in which he was awarded the Bronze Star for service, the Army Medical Proficiency ‘A’ Designator for excellence in both clinical and academic medicine in 2009, and the Young Neurosurgeon’s Award in 2005 from the AANS.
He focuses on the areas of cerebrovascular disease, neurotrauma, and neurocritical care. He has advanced the use of multi-modal monitoring in the military and treatment techniques to patients with neurotrauma and stroke with both invasive and non-invasive monitoring. He recevied the AANS 2025 Humanitarian Award for his volunteer work in Ukraine.

FRANCISCO CHONG MD

Certified by the Mexican Board of Neurological Surgery since 1991. Graduated with automatic honors for academic excellence from the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo. His solid academic background is complemented by certifications and competency exams that validate his excellence in neurosurgical practice.
He has a career spanning more than four decades in the field of neurosurgery and medical management. He has held key positions such as General Director of the General Hospital of Pachuca, President of the Mexican Board of Neurological Surgery, and of the Mexican Society of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Rangel Castilla is a vascular and endovascular neurosurgeon practicing private practice in San Luis Potosí. He received his medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí. He did neurosurgery residency at Methodist Neurological Institute Houston Texas, and an enfolded pediatric fellowship at the Texas Children’s hospital, He then pursued a Skull base and cerebrovascular fellowship at the world renowned Barrow Neurological Institute under Dr Robert Spetzler mentorship. He then pursue an Endovascular neurosurgery fellowship at the University of Buffalo, New York, He then joined the department of neurosurgery at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, where he was assistant professor for 4 years before he returned to his hometown.
Dr. Rangel Castilla has contribute with more than 150 peer reviewed publications to the literature and has coauthor 3 books: Neuroendoscopic Surgery, Decision Making in Neurovascular diseases and Video Atlas of Neuroendovascular Procedures with publisher Thieme. EDGAR NATHAL MD

Dr. Edgar Nathal is a distinguished neurosurgeon with a high-level academic and professional career. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Guadalajara and completed his residency in Neurosurgery at the National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery “Manuel Velasco Suárez,” where he consolidated his specialized training.
Subsequently, he completed a fellowship in Vascular Neurosurgery at the Cerebrovascular Research Institute of Akita, Japan, where he advanced his knowledge in the management of cerebrovascular pathologies. He also supplemented his training with a course in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Endoscopy under the guidance of Dr. Axel Perneczky at the University of Mainz and the Aesculap Academy in Tuttlingen, Germany.
His leadership in the field of neurosurgery is reflected in his role as president of the Neurovascular Surgery Section of the Mexican Society of Neurological Surgery (SMCN) and of the Vascular Chapter of the Latin American Federation of Neurosurgery (FLANC). He has also contributed to the training of new generations as a Full Professor of Vascular Neurosurgery at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
