PRE-CONGRESS WORKSHOPS
CRANIAL MODELS
Subtemporal Craniotomy
- Duration of the craniotomy: 40 min
- Location: Main auditorium
- Cost: $2,500 MXN per participant

The subtemporal approach is one of the most commonly used in skull base surgery. It provides access to the middle fossa, the inferior surface of the temporal lobe, and the lateral surface of the brainstem. Adequate knowledge of the anatomy is imperative for the proper handling of anatomical structures related to this approach, both vascular (internal carotid artery, posterior cerebral artery, anterior choroidal artery) and nervous (superior petrosal nerve, trigeminal nerve and its 3 branches, oculomotor nerve, cochlear nerve).
Participants will have the opportunity to practice this approach, including the exact site for the incision, proper placement of the trepanations, removal of the craniotomy, drilling of the temporal bone, proper opening of the dura mater, protection of the temporal lobe, and dissection of the arachnoid, along with the correct localization of the previously mentioned neurovascular structures.
THIS WORKSHOP PROVIDES 14 POINTS TOWARD RECERTIFICATION
Dates:
July 24th and 25th, 2025
Schedule:
Every hour from 8am to 4pm.
Capacity:
Limited to 32 participants.
